Hi there. Can you make a comparison between LX3 & LX5?
I made the comparison between LX3 and LX5 here:
http://www.radiantlite.com/2010/07/panasonic-lx5-vs-panasonic-lx3.html
The LX5 looks great. Having looked at the specs, I'm quite surprised that the LX5 doesn't seem to have:-
• Cable / remote release (manual or electronic) - for an enthusiast's camera this is surely a basic requirement
• "B" Shutter speed (to go with the cable release)
• Intervalometer for time lapse photography
While the first of these is clearly a hardware issue, I'd have thought that the second two could be fixed with a firmware update (which, with a bit of luck might make it to the LX3 firmware!).
For now, I think I'll keep my LX3 and wait for the LX7 in a couple of years time!
;-)
Having both the LX3 and the LX5 I wouldn't consider the differences between the LX3 and the LX5 as negligible. The zoom on LX3 was too short for a good optimal portrait which I found frustrating to say the least. The lx5 has no problems in that aspect imho. Another frustrating quirk in the LX3 was the hopeless focusing in macro mode. In the LX5 both AF and MF can be used to great effect, albeit only at the wide-angle end of the zoom. The image processor in the LX5 does a much better job if you ask me no matter what theoretical tests say.
