A lot of new models came out this September 2008. All of them carry amazing new features and specs. Some companies are targeting a more large public with less expensive models then other , with more automatic modes and more or less special features. But at the end it really comes to 2 crucial specs. The lens's maximum aperture and the sensor's ISO reproduction. Both of them combined with a effective image stabilization and you already have the amazing recepie that explains the amazing camera generation.

So let's have an overview of all the high-end compact cameras of 2008 Fall's market:

(pls note that there are overlapping models that are out already or that are coming out soon. The compact camera market is very aggressive and active, new models are coming out all the time. Also I am not publishing any prices as theses are all changing constantly and are relative the your location. This is my personal selection of so said serious cameras but you also have Samsung's really nice wide angle cameras but will have more troubles with the ISO aspect).
